დედამიწაზე ადამიანთა ცივილიზაციის არსებობის მანძილზე უამრავი სახელმწიფო არსებულა, რომელიც დღეს აღარ არსებობს. ზოგი  დღესაც განაგრძობს არსებობას. უმეტესი მათგანი საშუალო ზომის, პატარა ან თუნდაც ჯუჯაა, თუმცა ზოგიერთი თავისი სიდიდით მართლაც რომ გვაოცებს. წარმოგიდგენთ ფართობის მიხედვით ყველა დროის 10 უდიდეს სახელმწიფოს.
