თუ გაზომვას დედამიწის ცენტრიდან დავიწყებთ მაშინ პირველობა ჩიმბურასოს ეკუთვნის, ანდებში მდებარე მწვერვალს, რომელიც ზღვის დონიდან 6263 მეტრზე მდაბარეობს, დედამიწის ცენტრიდან კი 6384 კილომეტრი აშორებს, ევერესტზე 2 კილომეტრით მეტი. ასეთი სხვაობა იმან წარმოშვა, რომ დედამიწა იდეალური ფორმის სფეროს არ წარმოადგენს, მისი ეკვატორული რადიუსი 6378.1 კილომეტრია, პოლარული კი 6356.8 კილომეტრი.
კიდევ ერთი პრედენდენტი კილიმანჯაროა, 5895 მეტრის სიმაღლის მწვერვალი ტანზანიაში. ის რომელიმე მთათა სისტემას არ განეკუთვნება და განცალკევებით დგას დაბლობზე.
საქართველოში უმაღლესი მწვერვალი შხარაა, 5201 მეტრი, ყველაზე რთულად დასალაშქრად კი უშბა მიიჩნევა ორთავიანი მწვერვალი, 4690 და 4700 მეტრი.
