მცხეთაში, როგორც მოსალოდნელი იყო პირველ ტურში სახელისუფლებო კანდიდატმა დიმიტრი ხუნდაძემ გაიმარჯვა.როგორც თავად მცხეთელები ამბობენ, მათ უთანასწორო ბრძოლაში გაიმარჯვეს. მათივე გადმოცემით, ჩოჩელმა შეძლო მცხეთასა და რაიონში დიდი ფულის დარიგება და მასთან დასაქმებული ხალხის დაშინება. მაგალითად, არმაზში ფულის დარიგებას მისი ძმის მძღოლი ხელმძღვანელობდა, ზაქაროში – ჩოჩელის კოორდინატორი ზვიად ძაგანიშვილი, ძალისში, წილკანსა და წეროვანში ნაცმოძრაობის ყოფილი თანამდებობის პირები, მუხრანში ყოფილი გამგებელი და პოლიციის უფროსი. არჩევნების დღეს მუხრანში თვითმხილველების გადმოცემით, ბიზნესმენი დავით ზეიკიძე საარჩევნო უბანთან იჯდა და ხალხს უშველი სიტყვებით აგინებდა: 300 000 ლარი დაგახარჯეთ და თქვენი აჯობებს, თუ დიტომ გაიმარჯვაო. ძალისში კიდევ უფრო შორს წასულან და სახელმწიფო დაცვის სამსახურის ხელმძღვანელის მოადგილე ნუგზარ ყამბეგაშვილი ღიად მუშაობდა თურმე ცეზარ ჩოჩელზე და ხალხს არწმუნებდა, ოცნების ერთადერთი კანდიდატი ჩოჩელიაო.ამის შესახებ ძალისელები ღიად საუბრობენ. სხვათაშორის, უკვე ორი დღეა თურმე მცხეთის „ქართული ოცნების“ შტაბში და ასევე ცენტრალურ შტაბშიდაც მიდიან მოქალაქეები, რომლებსაც ფული შესთავაზეს ჩოჩელის ხალხმა. ისინი მათ გვარებს ასახელებენ. დღეს კიდევ უფრო მნიშვნელოვანი ინფორმაცია მოგვაწოდეს მცხეთელებმა:

-„არჩევნების დღეს მცხეთაში ცეზარ ჩოჩელს რესტორანში გამარჯვების  სუფრა ჰქონდა შეკვეთილი. მას იმედი გაუწბილდა. ხალხმა ფული აიღო, მაგრამ ხმა ხუნდაძეს მისცა. ჩოჩელი არა მარტო რიგითმა ადამიანებმა, არამედ იმ ხალხმაც გადააგდო, ვინც მის შტაბს ხელმძღვანელობდა. გუშინ, მცხეთაში ერთ-ერთ სასტუმროში ცეზარ ჩოჩელმა მწარედ აგინა შტაბის ხელმძღვანელებს, ნაცმოძრაობის ყოფილ ჩინოვნიკებს: აბაშიძეს, ყიფშიძეს და ანდრო კალანდაძეს, ყველაზე ოდიოზურ ფიგურებს მცხეთაში. ჩოჩელმა მათ ფულის დაბრუნება მოსთხოვა. ასევე დაემუქრა, თუ მეორე ტურში არჩევნებს არ მოაგებინებენ, თითოეულ მათგანს ჩაუშვებს და დააჭერინებს. ასეთია ჩოჩელისეული მეგობრობა და ერთგულება. ამ „ერთგულების“ იმედი აქვს ჩოჩელს მეორე ტურშიც. თუმცა დაავიწყდა, რომ დამარცხებულთან აღარავინ დგება, ყველას გამარჯვებული ურჩევნია. დიმიტრი ხუნდაძემ  ძალიან რთული ბრძოლა ერთხელ უკვე მოიგო და გამარჯვება მეორედაც მისი იქნება დიდი უპირატესობით“.

ამ განწყობით ხვდებიან მცხეთელები მეორე ტურს. ფაქტია, დამარცხებულის პოზიციიდან გამარჯვებისთვის ბრძოლა ძალიან ძნელია. მითუმეტეს, დიმიტრი ხუნდაძესთან„, რომლის პარტიამაც პარლამენტში საკონცტიტუციო უმრავლესობა თითქმის უკვე მოიპოვა.
